- How does managed IT pricing actually work?
- Two common shapes. Per-user (typically $149/user/mo) bundles a workstation plus a smartphone for a knowledge worker and includes proactive monitoring, patching, helpdesk, and a quarterly review — the cleanest fit for office-based teams. Per-endpoint ($59/workstation, $149/server, $19/mobile) is for shops with a mix of devices that don't map cleanly to users — manufacturers, retail with shared terminals, organizations with kiosks. We'll recommend whichever model produces the lower defensible monthly for your actual environment.
- What's included in the on-site rate, and why a two-hour minimum?
- The on-site rate ($200/hr in Manhattan, $150–$175/hr in the outer boroughs and most of NJ) covers a senior engineer with the right tools, parts inventory, and access to the back-office documentation we've already built for you. The two-hour minimum in Manhattan reflects the reality of getting across the city — by the time we're in the door at one PM, the next call is at three. Outside Manhattan, the minimum drops to one hour. After-hours and weekends carry a 1.5× multiplier unless you're on a pre-arranged on-call retainer.
- Do you mark up hardware?
- Cost + 15%, posted. We show you the distributor invoice. Some shops bill cost-plus-flat-configuration-fee instead, and we'll do that for large fleet orders where the percentage starts to feel arbitrary — typically anything north of $25K in a single order. We don't do the IT-industry trick of refusing to disclose the markup.
- Where do you actually go in person?
- All five boroughs, same week. Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Morris, and Union counties — roughly twice a week as a standing schedule, with major cutovers and incidents triggering travel outside those days. U.S. clients outside the metro are served remotely; on-site available on request with travel costs quoted separately. We generally don't take clients outside the U.S.
- Can you handle a SOC 2 or HIPAA program end-to-end?
- Yes. SOC 2 Type II for a small SaaS typically runs $25K–$80K all-in year one — auditor fees, a compliance-automation platform (Vanta, Drata, Secureframe), readiness work, and a penetration test. HIPAA is more of a recurring stack: a HIPAA-compliant Supabase + Vercel posture, BAA paperwork, audit logging, and PHI-aware encryption land around $1,200–$1,800/month before scale costs. Both are scoped after a discovery call so we can quote real numbers, not a brochure range.
