Custom Software Development in NYC & Northern NJ

We build custom web applications, internal tools, and customer portals for businesses in New York City, Northern New Jersey, and across the United States. The work is done by a small, named team of engineers who learn your business and answer the phone — not a junior offshore pool with a project manager between you and the code.

§ 01 — What We Build

What we actually build.

01

Internal Tools & Operational Dashboards

The thing that's currently five spreadsheets, a half-broken Access database, and one indispensable employee — replaced with a coherent web application your team actually wants to use.

02

Customer Portals & Client-Facing Web Apps

Account dashboards, ordering interfaces, document uploads, payment flows — the front door your customers use to do business with you, built to the same standard as the products they buy from larger firms.

03

Custom SaaS & Software Products

For founders building a venture-backable product, or SMBs productizing internal IP. Full product engineering from architecture through hosting and ongoing iteration.

04

Integration & Workflow Automation

Software that bridges the systems you already pay for — CRM, accounting, ERP, ticketing — plus the email inboxes and shared drives where the actual work happens. Removes the manual re-keying nobody enjoys.

§ 02 — How We Work

The process.

  1. 01

    Discovery

An hour or two with you and the people who actually do the work. Followed by a written summary of what we heard and what we'd build first. No demos yet.

  2. 02

    Architecture

A short written brief: proposed stack, hosting, integrations, known risks, milestones. You approve in writing before any code is written.

  3. 03

    Delivery

Two-week increments. You see working software at the end of each one. Cutover, training, and documentation are part of the price, not extras.

  4. 04

    Maintenance

After launch we're still here. Bug fixes, minor enhancements, security patches, and the occasional 'can we add X?' — handled by the same engineers who built it.

§ 03 — Local Delivery

NYC & Northern NJ in person.

We're headquartered in New York City and run kickoffs in person across the five boroughs — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island. We're also in Northern New Jersey roughly twice a week, covering Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Morris, and Union for in-person discovery and major project milestones. The early discovery sessions, where you explain how the work actually flows, are meaningfully more useful at a whiteboard than over Zoom — and we'll come to you. Working sessions during build can be on-site by request. Outside the Tri-State, the same process runs remotely; we've found the in-person advantage matters most in the first two weeks, after which custom software work is largely async by nature.

§ 04 — Tech & Tooling

The stack.

  • TypeScript
  • Next.js
  • Postgres
  • Drizzle
  • tRPC
  • Tailwind
  • Python
  • AWS / Vercel

Default web stack: TypeScript, Next.js, and Postgres on Vercel or AWS, with Drizzle, tRPC, and Tailwind for the engineering pieces. Python where data and ML belong. We pick the stack to fit the problem, not the resume — and we'll tell you when the boring choice is the right one.

§ 05 — Who This Is For

Who we work with.

Professional firms

Law, accounting, architecture, engineering — replacing decade-old custom software or internal tooling that has outgrown what its original developer can support.

Light manufacturers & operators

Workflows that have outgrown spreadsheets but don't fit any off-the-shelf product. Order entry, scheduling, inventory, quality control.

Founders shipping a v1

YC-backed and bootstrapped founders who need engineering judgment, not just hands. We'll help you decide what not to build, then build the rest.

§ 06 — FAQ

Common questions.

How long does a custom software project take?
Depends on the project, but you may be up and running as quickly as 1-2 days.
Do you work onsite in NYC and NJ?
Yes. We're headquartered in NYC and onsite across the five boroughs same-day. We're in Northern New Jersey roughly twice a week and schedule onsite work around those days. Outside the area, we work remotely with periodic visits if the engagement justifies it.
Why not offshore?
Offshore engineering can be excellent for well-specified, ongoing work with a strong technical lead on your side. For greenfield custom software where the spec evolves week to week, the timezone gap and the layer of project management are usually more expensive than the per-hour rate suggests. We don't argue the point — we just answer the phone.
How do you price?
We charge a flat monthly rate based on estimated hosting and on-going devops maintenance costs. Discovery is totally free.
